Congratulations! You have completed the Peer Review Learning Module. We hope that you have been able to
achieve the following objectives:
- Describe the mission and scope of the Journal of Student-Run Clinics
- Describe the importance of peer review and role of reviewers in the publication process
- Describe common peer review processes and the process used by the Journal of Student-Run Clinics
- Summarize common requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals
- Discuss scientific conduct and authorship ethics related to manuscripts
- Demonstrate the professional responsibilities and etiquette of reviewers
- Write a thoughtful, thorough, and constructive assessment of a submission
- Navigate and use the online editing interface to access, read, and comment on submissions
Reviewer Contract
By clicking "I agree" the user agrees to abide by the instructions and expectations for reviewers of the Journal
of Student-Run Clinics described in the Peer Review Learning Module and to become a member of the Journal
of Student-Run Clinics Review Board. If you decide to join, your name and institutional affiliation will be listed in
the publicly-viewable list of reviewers. Main responsibilities for reviewers are:
- Timely response to requests for review (within 1 week of receipt of request)
- Timely completion of review assignments (within 1 month of acceptance of request or otherwise specified deadline)
- Proper usage of the review forms, narrative comment, and publication recommendation
- Honest assessment of submissions and the limitations of one's review
- Communication with editors with regards to delays or uncertainties in the review process
- Ethical and professional conduct throughout the review process
- Proper handling of conflicts of interest
- Maintaining confidentiality of review materials
Users interested in become reviewers should have contacted the Editorial Board regarding their interest. If you
have done so and answer "I agree" your name will be placed in the pool for the Review Board.
